WOW, so much for keeping up with a blog. I've seen the Blogger bookmark on my toolbar everyday, and I've meant to write something. I guess there goes the weekly update on the pregnancy! So I'll just catch everything up.
Its 5:54am. I've been awake since about 2:30. I did some laundry and took a shower. I don't understand. I'm so tired, but I can't sleep. Of course Joel is in there sleeping like a bear in hibernation. Maybe it's because I've had so much sleep in the past few days. I'm really not going to be happy about this lack of sleep for the rest of the day though. I have a lot of work to do. Yesterday Grandma came over to help me clean the house in preparation for 1) Elika's arrival and 2) The baby shower this coming Sunday. AHH, why have I let all these chores go for so long?? It's actually not too bad, just some boxes to unpack (after living here for what, 5 months now? good grief). We got a ton done yesterday, so today will be more like actual house work, cleaning the floors and bathrooms and stuff. I get worn out so easily though so it's a few days project.
So here's a look on this pregnancy to date. Weeks 1-29 have been perfect. No problems, no worries, just a healthy sounding/looking baby that I cant wait to meet. My blood pressure has been a tad high, more like high normal, but it's been that way this whole time, so nothing to really worry about there. My doctor wants me to speak with a specialist/high risk doctor for advice on my blood pressure to see if it needs more attention. It's precautionary. In the same appointment, doc said there was +1 protein in my urine. That is a very early sign of preeclampsia. NOT GOOD. So now there is a combination of slightly high blood pressure and protein. My doc suggested I do this 24 urine test. It's very tedious and annoying but it'll hopefully rule out the protein that day and hopefully it was just a fluke. I'm finishing up that whole deal today. I failed my 1 hour glucose tolerance test. I've heard that a lot of people fail it though, like 25% or something. Doc said my number wasn't crazy high, but just to rule out Gestational Diabetes, it's best to follow up with a 3 hour glucose test. Mind you, all this information is coming to me on one day, last Thursday, Joel wasn't with me either. Now she tells me that I also have a bladder infection. Great. The baby is also transverse breech, but she has plenty of time to turn over still. So I needed to get some blood drawn that day for check my liver function and if I'm anemic. Then Friday, the next day, I had to go in for the 3 hour test. I had to fast since midnight, go in at 8:30, get blood drawn, drink this awful drink, then for the next 3 hours on the hour get blood taken again. That's FOUR times. Today, after I turn in the urine thing, I get blood taken again. I look like a junkie, and my arm hurts!
All of these things are precautionary and I'm glad my doctor is doing them. I really trust her and I'm glad we're ruling out all these potential complications, even though they're tedious.
Other than those things, I still feel great for the most part. Bending over is hard to do, and tiring! I'm getting the nursery ready for Elika and dang she has a lot of clothes. Well, it seems like a lot but they're all like 0-6m size. She'll grow outta those fast. I'm really excited for the baby shower. I can't wait to see a ton of friends I haven't seen in a while.
I'm not working anymore, HOORAY! My last day was last Saturday. It's a good thing though since I have so much to do and it's just too tiring getting ready for work, then actually working!
I think writing this blog was therapy for my sleep deprivation. I'm very tired now! Maybe I just needed to hear the white noise hum of the computer. I guess. Well is 6:13 and I'm off to bed. I WILL update again soon.
